Donna Skvarla 617 Terrace Place Norman, Oklahoma 73069, 405-364-0363,
Donna is originally from Austin, Texas, where she
earned a degree in English from the University of Texas. After moving to
Norman, Oklahoma in 1965, she earned a Masters degree in Library Science from
the University of Oklahoma. She worked at the Norman Public Library, where
she was Head of Children's Servises and at the Oklahoma Department of
Libraries, where she was Administrator, Office of Library Development. She
retired in 2004 after 30 years of library service. She and her husband, John,
an OU Professor, have two grown daughters. They live in Norman, but spend
summers in Colorado.
Donna has been active in the quilt world since 1985
and is an avid collector, historian and quilt maker. Following practical
experience and formal studies, she was certified as a quilt appraiser by the
American Quilter's Society in 2004. Memberships include the American
Quilter's Society, the American Quilt Study Group and its regional chapter,
the Missouri, Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas Quilt Study Group (MOKA), the
National Quilt Association, the Professional Association of Appraisers Quilted
Textiles (PAAQT), the Oklahoma Quilters State Organization, the Central
Oklahoma Quilter's Guild, the Norman Area Quilter's Guild and the Silver
Threads Quilt Guild in Colorado.
