Statement
Body of Knowledge:
The Professional Association of Appraisers - Quilted Textiles (PAAQT)
Body of Knowledge is an inclusive term that describes the sum of
knowledge presented through official copyrighted PAAQT materials, the
PAAQT website and PAAQT publications. The full body of knowledge
concerning
the appraisal of quilted textiles resides with the PAAQT membership,
which advances and applies the profession. Publications included in the Body
of
Knowledge identify and describe the subset of information, which is
generally accepted. Generally accepted means that the knowledge and
practices described are applicable to most situations and that there is
widespread consensus about the value and usefulness. Generally accepted
does not mean that the knowledge and practices described are or should
be applied uniformly to all situations.
The PAAQT Body of
Knowledge provides a common lexicon within the profession.
The documents provide a basic reference for anyone interested in the
profession of quilted textile appraisal. As a basic reference, this
material is neither comprehensive nor all-inclusive.
Author and Owner:
PAAQT is the author and owner of the Body of Knowledge and
in the spirit of advancing the profession makes available this material
to
promote, educate and encourage quilt makers, quilt owners, quilted
textile
professionals and quilted textile appraisers. PAAQT owns and maintains
the
exclusive rights and privileges in and to the copyrights of this
material.
The Body of Knowledge is made possible through the volunteer efforts of
the
dedicated and knowledgeable members of PAAQT, seeking to advance the
profession. From time to time, revisions, new editions and original
material
will be developed and published. Specific information provided in the
Body
of Knowledge may be proprietary to individual members or volunteers who
retain their individual copyrights, but have provided a license to PAAQT
for
use and distribution. These individual copyrights are explicitly noted
on
applicable documents.
Summary: Users of
this material should be aware that PAAQT has exclusive
rights and privileges in and to the copyrights expressed in the
materials.
Therefore, other than specifically permitted below, duplications and any
use
of copyrighted materials by individuals, businesses, organizations or
institutions requires the express prior written permission of the
copyright
owner, PAAQT.
1. Grant of License: One (1) hardcopy or one (1) transfer to another
electronic medium of PAAQT Body of Knowledge materials, solely for the
individual and private use of the user. Additional copies are
specifically
not allowed without the express, prior written permission of PAAQT.
PAAQT
members may only distribute complete copies carrying full PAAQT
copyright
identification.
2. Scope: A non-exclusive, royalty free license to the user only to use
the Body of Knowledge solely for non-commercial purposes.
3. Copyright: The Body of Knowledge material is protected by U.S.
copyright laws and international treaty provisions, and must be treated
like
any other copyrighted material.
4. Other Restrictions: User may neither rent, lease, sell, distribute,
or otherwise transfer all or any portion of the Body of Knowledge nor
create
any derivative work, use in public display or alter the Body of
Knowledge in
any way. PAAQT members, creating derivative material, must apply
appropriate
citation to quoted material and assume responsibility for all statements
not
specifically rendered by PAAQT as part of the Body of Knowledge. PAAQT
members are allowed distribution rights only as stated in the Grant of
License.
5. Warranties: Provided as is, without warranty of any kind, express or
implied, including but not limited to any implied warranties of fitness
for
a particular purpose, with regard to the Body of Knowledge. PAAQT is not
responsible for the application of the material provided for any
specific or
non-specific purpose.
6. Consequential Damages: In no event shall PAAQT be liable for any
damages whatsoever arising out of the use of the PAAQT Body of
Knowledge,
including but not limited to loss of profit, pecuniary loss or property
loss.
7. Governing Law: The laws of the (whatever state our website is hosted
in) govern this agreement.
