Aug has professionally appraised over 5,000 quilts and quilted textiles since 1980. Previously an antique quilt dealer and quilt shop co-owner, Bobbie became an AQS Certified Quilt Appraiser the first year certification was made available, in 1989. Since 1992, she has been teaching classes about quilt appraising and serves on the Quilt Appraiser Certification Committee teaching skills courses and testing appraiser candidates for The American Quilter’s Society, Paducah, KY. In addition, Bobbie has conducted workshops on quiltmaking and quilt history and has lectured at many national venues including The International Quilt Festival, Houston, TX; The Vermont Quilt Festival, Northfield, VT; The National Quilting Association, Reno, NV and Columbus, OH (2003); The American Quilter’s Society, Paducah, KY; The Columbia River Gorge Annual Quilt Show, Skamania, WA; and the Minnesota State Quilter’s Guild. Also, she has co-authored six books: five on quiltmaking and one about collecting and valuing quilts and other textiles. Bobbie’s articles and quilts have appeared in several quilt magazines such as McCall’s Vintage Quilts, Traditional Quiltworks and Quilter’s Newsletter Magazine. Recently, Bobbie appeared on HGTV’s Simply Quilts with Alex Anderson. Along with membership in many local, regional and national quilting associations, Bobbie is a member of the Professional Association of Appraisers of Quilted Textiles.
